Emilio Wilson Park
Emilio Wilson Park has a particular resonance in St Maarten due to its history, its environmental value, its place as a public park and since few months its place in the world thanks to its zip line that is the most amazing.
Emilio Wilson Park sits on the grounds of what was once a sugar plantation and now is an open public park where you can picnic and there is a playground area for children.
The Emilio Wilson Estate is covering the former Sentry plantation (St Maarten had 49 plantations) and the Sint Maarten government bought 91 acres in 2012 to make a Public Park : the Emilio Wilson Park.
The Emilio Wilson Park is located on the western side of the road that runs through Cul de Sac valley to St Peters, covering about 107 acres (43 ha) from the road to the top of Sentry Hill. The estate is comprised of Sentry Hill, rock walls, the former plantation building, the house of Emilio Wilson, sites, and caves that were used as shelters during hurricanes.
The estate has an interesting historical value. The Cul de Sac valley was the area of the first major colonial period settlement on the Dutch side of St Maarten. The valley was home to several large sugar plantations in the 18th and 19th centuries. The Emilio Wilson estate is the last vestige of a plantation on St Maarten on the Dutch side that has remained relatively intact and untouched.
Tintamarre Island
Tintamarre Island is located 2.5 miles off the north of St Martin island. Tintamarre is part of the French Natural reserve and covers around 250 acres of land and has 2 sandy beach. As part of the Natural reserve you can observe many birds species on land and many mammals on sea. It’s literally a beauty for your eyes to see the nature in all its splendor !!
The first beach on Tintamarre island is also the most accessible and is located on the west coast of the island facing Saint Martin.”Baie Blanche” in French or “White Bay” is a delightful beach for swimming.
The second beach is located on the East part of Tintamarre just a few minutes away from the main one. This beach is wild and rocky so it isn’t the best spot to swim except for snorkeling st maarten because you will find numerous fish species.
And to prepare your trip you need to know where is Tintamarre Island ! So you can look at our Map HERE or below.
