Pinel Island
Pinel Island is a small paradise within the paradise of St Martin. Pinel is a small island part of the Nature Reserve of the French side of Saint Martin. Pinel island is nice spot for snorkeling in St Maarten. And you will also see plenty of Iguanas on Pinel island.
Pinel island has 2 beaches ! One beach that faces St Maarten which is a very sheltered sandy strip with shallow waters. Ideal for children, this beach of Pinel island is a perfect postcard of paradise with clear waters and white sand. The 2 restaurants of Pinel island lie on this beach. The second beach of Pinel island is much more exposed to the forces of nature because it faces the ocean on the other side of the island. But it is a very nice beach about 10 minutes walk away from the first beach where the Pinel island ferry will have you dropped you off.
The Pinel island ferry is not really a ferry but a traditional fish boat known as a “Saintoise”. To reach Pinel island you take the ferry from the pontoon at Cul de Sac and it starts at 9.30 am and there is a ferry every 30 minutes. The Pinel island ferry will take you to your destination with a 10 minutes boat ride that costs less than $10 for the round trip.
